How to Water Ehretia in the UAE: Summer and Winter Routine
By Muhammad Hamza · Published · Updated

Our nursery waters Ehretia twice a day in summer and once a day in winter. That is the routine for plants in pots in full sun. In your own garden the right amount depends on your pot, your soil and the weather, so use the soil check below instead of a fixed schedule.
The two-minute soil check
Push a finger into the soil to about 2 to 3 cm.
- If it feels dry, water.
- If it still feels damp, wait and check again later.
Summer in the UAE
Summer is the hard season. Plants in full sun lose water fast, and small pots dry out faster than plants in the ground. Expect to water more often than in winter, and check both morning and evening.
- Water until it reaches the whole root ball, not just the surface.
- Keep a light hand on the leaves. Water the soil, not the foliage.
- Make sure every pot has drainage holes so extra water can leave.
Winter in the UAE
In winter our nursery waters once a day. At home, cooler days mean the soil stays wet longer, so check before you water. Do not keep watering on summer habit.
Signs you are watering wrong
- Yellow leaves, with soil that is always wet: too much water or poor drainage.
- Dry, crisp leaf edges, with soil that is dry deep down: not enough water.
Our guide to yellow, brown and falling leaves walks through the check step by step. For the full routine, read the care guide.
